and countrysides
The Mont-St-Michel Bay (10 km from the Auberge)
The Mont-Saint-Michel Bay, world Unesco patrimony classified,
can be wondered at from various sites between the Pointe du Grouin in
Brittany and Saint-Jean-Le-Thomas in Normandy. It deserves to be seen,
as well as the Mont-Saint-Michel itself, and may be crossed on foot with
a guide (information at the Maison de la Baie).
Footpaths of the Dardennes wood and the Sélune
river (1 km from the Auberge)
Footpaths of the Dardennes wood are edged with well-kept footpaths
that offer very pleasant walks around the Auberge. You will for example
discover the Montmorel Abbey, a wonderful site built in the meander of
the Selune.
Ducey (the town)
Ducey is a very floral town and the efforts made by its inhabitants
will be noticed by visitors. Its 17th century castle, built by Gabriel
de Montgommery, is being restored but can be visited. The old village,
around the Selune, is the regular walk of numerous "Ducéens".
Chausey archipelago (40 km from the Auberge, and
then one hour by boat)
This archipelago is famous among sailors, fishermen and painters.
You may walk through the fishermen's village or on the beaches, or wonder
at numerous sea birds.
The Sélune valley (5 km from the Auberge)
Above Ducey, the Selune flows through a hilly valley, that offers
excellent views over its course and the artificial lakes made by the Veezins
and la Roche qui Boit (the drinking Rock) dams.
Beaches (Jullouville, Carolles, etc... : 20 km
from the Auberge)
The coast around Granville is famous for summer visitors, and
very lively in July and August.

A famous Son & Lumiere show in Normandy, that will astonish you
by its humour and its dimension. Translated in English and German.
Jazz
sous les Pommiers (50 km from the Auberge)
A great jazz festival in which you can see the most famous names
in May, in Coutances.
Visits
D-Day cemeteries (15 km from the Auberge)
Visiting a D-Day cemetery is always a striking instant that keeps
up memory and calls for respect. The Saint-James American cemetery and
the Huisnes/Mer German cemetery are among the biggest in the surroundings.
The Copper Museum and the Bells Foundry (Villedieu-les-Poëles
: 25 km from the Auberge)
Villedieu-les-Poëles is a copper town. There are numerous
shops where you may buy nice gifts to take home. You will find here the
Copper Museum which will teach you much about this material. The foundry
produced bells from numerous churches and abbeys far beyond Normandy.

Salmon fishing in the Sélune
(1 km from the Auberge)
The Sélune river is one of the last salmon rivers
in France, and fishing this king of the flows is part and parcel
of Ducey's traditions.
Sailing in Granville (40 km from
the Auberge)
Granville is known by fishermen as well as by sailors. You can
practise here sailing by dinghy or catamaran, or also windsurf. You will
find some information on the Granville Nautical
Center web site.
Sand-yachting in Cherrueix (25 km from the Auberge)
A singular sport with view of the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel.
